Cirencesters’ largest musical event the “Phoenix Festival” added a new 3rd stage with the “Let’s Play Music Stage” dedicated to local amateur musical talent. Cirencester demonstrated it was rich with talented amateur musicians with performers aged from as young as 4 years to 70plus. The Phoenix Festival and Cirencesters’ premier instrument tuition organisation Let’s Play Music wanted to give musicians, singers, open mic’ers, school and community choirs a chance to perform and show off their skills on a stage made for them.
The two day event is just incredible. The first three hours of each day are performers under 16. All have lots of proud family and friends that came to support them with crowd numbers spilling outside the tent for most of the day. There were many outstanding performances including future stars 15yr old Harry Smith, 12yr old Imogen Grover and 16yr old Tanis Rubringer who blew the crowds away. For these young performers it was a real accomplishment to play at Cirencesters’ largest live music event and both the Phoenix Festival and Let’s Play Music are proud to have put on an event which encourages and supports young local musicians.
The last four hours of each day was dedicated to adult amateur musicians. From Jamie Blackburns’ gritty soulful voice, to Roi Geyari playing impressive 1930’s American ragtime country guitar the diversity of talent was amazing.
Below is a collection of photos and videos of many of the acts that played on our stage over the 2015 & 2016 events.
